Version 1.0, effective October 13, 2026.
Rich Text for Canvas is commercial software made by MyCreativeShop, Inc. It is not open source. This agreement is between MyCreativeShop, Inc., a North Dakota corporation ("MyCreativeShop", "we" or "us"), and the person or organization that installs, uses or buys a license for the Library ("you"). If you accept this agreement on behalf of an organization, you confirm that you have the authority to bind it.
You accept this agreement by installing, copying or using the Library, or by buying a license. If you don't accept it, don't install or use the Library.
In short
This summary is here to help you read the agreement. The numbered sections below are the terms that apply.
- You can install the Library and use every feature for free while you develop and evaluate it. Text boxes show a small "Development" mark.
- To use the Library on a live site, you need a paid license that covers that site. A license covers any number of developers.
- Development and staging sites never need a license and never count as live sites.
- Your license lasts while your plan is paid for. You can cancel at any time.
- The license check never blocks or breaks your app, and we have no remote switch to turn your copy off.
- Don't resell or redistribute the Library on its own, or build a competing text library from it, unless you have a Platform agreement that allows it.
- Don't remove or hide the license check or its marks, and don't reverse engineer the Library.
1. Definitions
- "Library" means the Rich Text for Canvas software published by MyCreativeShop, including its JavaScript code, its browser build, its type declarations, its documentation, and every update we make available to you. It does not include the third-party components listed in section 11, which are covered by their own licenses.
- "Your Product" means a website, web application or other software that you build and that uses the Library.
- "Live Site" means a hostname, such as
app.example.com, on which Your Product is available to people who are not your own developers or testers. Each hostname is a separate Live Site:example.comandwww.example.comare two. - "Development Site" means a hostname that is used only by you, your developers and your testers to build and test
Your Product, such as
localhost, a staging site or a test site. A Development Site is not a Live Site. - "End User" means a person who uses Your Product.
- "Plan" means the license you bought: Per Site, Personal use, or Platform. The pricing and what each Plan includes are on our website.
- "License Key" means the key we issue for your Plan, which you add to Your Product so that the Library recognizes your Live Sites.
- "Paid Period" means the period your Plan is paid for, normally a calendar month.
2. Development and evaluation license (free)
We grant you a free, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the Library on Development Sites to develop, test and evaluate Your Product, for as long as you like. Text boxes show a "Development" mark during this use. This license does not allow use on a Live Site.
3. Commercial license (Per Site)
During each Paid Period of a Per Site Plan, we grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, worldwide license to:
- use the Library, with any number of your employees and contractors, to develop, test and maintain Your Product;
- deploy the Library as part of Your Product on the number of Live Sites your Plan covers, and on any number of Development Sites; and
- let your End Users use the Library through Your Product.
You choose which Live Sites your Plan covers from your licenses page, and you can change them or the number of sites at any time. If you build Your Product for a client, either you or your client must hold the Plan that covers the client's Live Sites.
Your End Users may use the Library only as part of Your Product. They receive no right to use the Library on its own or to build with it.
4. Personal use
Personal use is a Per Site Plan for one Live Site, at a reduced monthly price for its first 12 months, as described on our website. It is only for a project you build for yourself, not for a business, an employer or a client. It is available once per account, for your first license. Adding a second Live Site, or using the Plan for a business, a client or an employer, ends the reduced price, and the standard Per Site price applies from the next Paid Period.
5. Platform
A Platform Plan covers uses that a Per Site Plan does not allow, for example:
- a white-label or multi-tenant platform whose customers use the Library on their own sites;
- software you ship or install for others, such as desktop applications, SDKs or embedded software; and
- reselling or redistributing the Library as part of your own product.
A Platform Plan is agreed in writing with us, by email or order form, and may include offline License Keys, a number of customer sites, and a wind-down period after the agreement ends. Where a Platform agreement and this agreement conflict, the Platform agreement applies.
6. What you may not do
Except as a Platform agreement expressly allows, you may not:
- use the Library on a Live Site without a Plan that covers it;
- sell, resell, rent, lease, lend, sublicense or redistribute the Library, on its own or as a standalone component;
- build a product that competes with the Library, such as another rich text, text layout or text editing library for canvas, using the Library, its code, or code derived from it;
- give third parties access to the Library's programming interface, for example through a development kit, a plugin system or a template builder that lets them build their own products with it;
- remove, hide, disable, alter or get around the license check or the marks it shows, or use a License Key on a Live Site its Plan does not cover;
- reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, deobfuscate or otherwise try to reconstruct the source code of the Library, by hand or with automated or artificial intelligence tools, except to the extent applicable law allows it regardless of this restriction;
- use the Library, its code, its documentation or code derived from them to train or improve a machine learning model that produces a competing product;
- remove or change any copyright, license or proprietary notice in the Library; or
- use the Library in a way that breaks any law, including export control and sanctions laws.
You may modify Your Product's own code freely. You may not modify the Library and distribute the modified version.
7. The License Key and the license check
- What the check sends. About once a week, after a page has loaded, the Library asks our license server whether your Plan is active. It sends only the License Key, the hostname of the page, and the version of the Library. It sends no information about your End Users.
- What we keep. We record which hostnames each License Key is used on, so that your licenses page can show them, and we keep the server's request logs for 30 days.
- It never blocks. The check runs in the background and nothing waits for it. If our server cannot be reached, for any reason, the Library keeps working with no marks.
- No remote switch. We cannot turn your copy of the Library off. A license ends only when what was paid for ends, or as section 10 describes.
- The marks. The Library shows a "Development" mark on each text box on a Development Site, or on a hostname your Plan does not cover. It shows an "Unlicensed" mark on each text box on a Live Site with no License Key, or when our server answers that the license has ended. The marks appear in exported images and prints too. They are placed outside the text and never change how text is laid out.
- Offline keys. An offline License Key never checks in. Offline keys come with a Platform Plan, or on request.
A License Key is not a secret: it appears in Your Product's code and works only on the hostnames its Plan covers.
8. Fees, billing and cancellation
- Fees are as shown on our website when you buy, in US dollars, billed monthly in advance by our payment provider. Taxes are added where they apply.
- We may change prices by emailing you at least 30 days before the change. A new price applies from your first Paid Period after that notice. You can cancel before it applies.
- You can cancel at any time from your dashboard. Your license stays active to the end of the Paid Period you have paid for, and ends then.
- If a payment fails, we email you and try again. Your license stays active while we try. If the last attempt fails, your license ends.
- Fees are not refundable, including for partial months, except where the law requires a refund or where we stop providing the license for a reason not stated in this agreement.
- If your license has ended, buying it again restores the same license and License Key.
9. Ownership
The Library and all intellectual property rights in it belong to MyCreativeShop and its licensors. This agreement grants you a license; it does not sell you the Library or transfer any ownership. We reserve every right not expressly granted to you.
Your Product, apart from the Library, belongs to you. If you send us suggestions or feedback about the Library, we may use them without any obligation to you.
10. Term and termination
- This agreement applies from when you first install or use the Library until it ends under this section.
- A Plan's commercial license lasts for each Paid Period you pay for, and ends when you cancel or a payment fails as section 8 describes.
- We may end your licenses by email if you materially breach this agreement and do not fix the breach within 30 days of our email. We may end them immediately, by email, if you breach section 6.
- When a license ends, you must stop using the Library on the Live Sites it covered, or buy a license that covers them. You may keep using the Library on Development Sites under section 2, unless we ended your licenses for a breach.
- Sections 6, 9, 11 to 14 and 16, and any fees you owe, continue after this agreement ends.
11. Third-party components, fonts and emoji
- The Library includes or uses third-party components, including harfbuzzjs, nspell, woff2-encoder and a US English spelling dictionary. Each is licensed to you under its own license, which comes with the Library.
- Fonts are licensed by their owners, not by us. The Library can load fonts from Google Fonts or from addresses you give it; you are responsible for having the right to use the fonts in Your Product.
- Emoji images served from our servers may be used with the Library in Your Product while your license is active. We may ask a Platform customer with heavy use to host its own copy.
12. Updates and support
While your Plan is active, you may use every version of the Library we publish. We provide support by email at support@mycreativeshop.com. We will try to answer promptly, but we don't promise a response time unless a Platform agreement says so.
13. If MyCreativeShop stops operating
If MyCreativeShop stops doing business and no successor takes over this agreement, every Plan that is active at that time becomes a perpetual, fully paid license for the versions of the Library you have, under the terms of this agreement, and the Library keeps working on your Live Sites with no marks.
14. Disclaimer and limitation of liability
- THE LIBRARY IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE". TO THE EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DON'T PROMISE THAT THE LIBRARY WILL BE ERROR-FREE OR WORK WITHOUT INTERRUPTION.
- TO THE EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS, NEITHER PARTY WILL BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, REVENUE OR DATA, EVEN IF IT WAS TOLD THEY WERE POSSIBLE.
- TO THE EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY UNDER THIS AGREEMENT IS LIMITED TO THE FEES YOU PAID US FOR THE LIBRARY IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM, OR US$100 IF YOU PAID NOTHING.
- The limits in this section don't apply to your breach of section 6, or to amounts you owe us.
15. Indemnity
You will defend and indemnify MyCreativeShop against claims by third parties that arise from Your Product or from your use of the Library in breach of this agreement, except to the extent a claim is caused by the Library itself.
16. General
- Governing law. The laws of the State of North Dakota, without regard to its conflict of laws rules, govern this agreement. The state and federal courts in Cass County, North Dakota, have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute about it, and both parties submit to those courts.
- Notices. We send notices to the email address on your account. You send notices to support@mycreativeshop.com. A notice takes effect when it is sent.
- Changes to this agreement. We may update this agreement by publishing a new version and emailing active customers at least 30 days before it takes effect. The new version applies from your first Paid Period after it takes effect. If you don't accept it, you can cancel before then.
- Assignment. You may not transfer this agreement or a license without our written consent, except to a buyer of all or substantially all of your business or of Your Product. We may transfer this agreement to a successor of our business.
- Entire agreement. This agreement, together with any Platform agreement, is the entire agreement about the Library. Our website's Terms of Use and Privacy Policy also apply to your account and payments. Where they conflict with this agreement about the Library, this agreement applies.
- Severability and waiver. If a court finds a term unenforceable, the rest stays in effect and the term is enforced as far as the law allows. Not enforcing a term is not a waiver of it.
- Force majeure. Neither party is liable for a delay or failure caused by events beyond its reasonable control.
